- Chainsaw – Motorcycle – Original Enamel on Aluminum 24″ x 20″ – Sold
I painted this while displaying my art at the Iron Horse Hotel the summer of 2025
These two images show what a difference lighting can make for how you choose to display your artwork. Time of day can play into how much natural light you have but at night is when you have the most flexibility to create a lot of drama. There is a little subjectivity to how much light you choose to use however, from the artist’s perspective, if you have the opportunity to talk to the artist to find out what their intent was for the painting, it can make a huge difference. Take this painting for example, a lot of light gives you a great view of every brush stroke and the colors used. Think of it as really displaying the technical ability of the artist. The darker image gives a more mysterious, sinister feel. My intent was deliver a moodier, “hiding in the shadows” emotion. This piece would likely need a small dim light shining on it to really gain that visceral feel at night.
