Happy 4th of July!
To celebrate, I created this painting of two of the most famous icons of freedom, the American Flag waving, and the American Eagle. The flag is a graphic statement unified in color and painted over a richly textured background showing its patina of honesty that is far from perfect. The Eagle is in flight, soaring with reserved confidence, with peace in mind, no need to show its powerful talons even though you know what they are capable of. Lastly, the thick texture on the canvas has a”250” that acts almost like a subtle watermark, worts and all, indicating a significant accomplishment in time. As we celebrate this “250” my hope is we can look inward and use less negative words and more positive action to make sure we are helping to make this world a better place than we found it.
